Gender-affirming care mostly consists of pharmacy and office visits

The vast majority of patients seeking gender-affirming care in 2022 did so by visiting a provider’s office or a retail pharmacy. About 26% of insurance claims were made for behavioral health services, while fewer than 5% were made for a gender-affirming procedure, like top surgery.

Total claims: 110,437
