Emissions intensities of biofuels are significantly lower than fossil fuels

Chart shows average lifecycle emissions from 2010 to 2024: gasoline and diesel are relatively constant and much higher than ethanol which is mid-range and steadily decreases, while renewable diesel/biodiesel is the lowest. Also shown are approximate links of changes to lifecycle emissions and timing of key federal and provincial fuels policies.
