COVID-19 cases and deaths among New York group-home residents

New York state group-home residents test positive for and die from the coronavirus at far higher rates than all New Yorkers.

Case-fatality rate refers to the percentage of deaths among people who tested positive for COVID-19. Mortality rate refers to the total proportion of the population who died from the virus. Because many asymptomatic individuals weren't tested, the case rate may be an underestimate. Because there are fewer than 100,000 group-home residents in the study, the case and mortality rate figures exceed the actual cases and deaths in this group.
