¹ Climate change sensitivity data are based on the ND-GAIN Index, which includes information for South Sudan as part of its information for Sudan. As such, the climate change data for Sudan and South Sudan shown here reflect the combined sensitivity of both countries.
² South Sudan gained independence from Sudan in July 2011. To facilitate comparisons across years, this chart only includes data from 2012 – the first full calendar year in which South Sudan existed as an independent country – and onward.
