Weekly new child COVID-19 cases and hospital admissions

Chart is on a logarithmic scale to show movement in both trend lines

Hospitalizations are for children under 18 with confirmed COVID-19. Cases are undercounted because New York does not report age breakouts (except New York City) and Texas reports age distribution for only 3% of confirmed cases. Nebraska stopped reporting child cases after 6/30 as did Alabama after 7/29. In addition, the upper limit of the definition of “child” is lower than 18 years in some states.
