New coronavirus cases at long-term care facilities over time

State officials first published coronavirus case and death numbers for senior care homes on April 14, showing that 224 people in senior care homes had already fallen ill and 32 had died. That’s why the first bar in the chart is so high. Each subsequent report counts only new cases and deaths in the prior week. The numbers in the chart include only senior care and retirement homes that had more than two coronavirus cases or at least one death because that's how the state provides the numbers.
