Howard County currently has the second-earliest average start times for high school students in the state of Maryland
The Howard County school board recently adjusted its high schools' start time to 8 a.m. for the next academic year, which would make it the eighth Maryland jurisdiction to start at 8 a.m. or later. Darker colors indicate a later start time.
This graph shows the averages of high school start times in each of Maryland's 24 jurisdictions, with darker colors indicating a later start time.
Only traditional 9th grade to 12th grade high schools under a respective jurisdiction's administration are calculated in averages. Public charter schools are not included, as they have more autonomy over their own start times.
