Marginal changes in population share

Religion share in total population (in %)

Hindus have a slighty lower population share compared to 1950. This is despite higher absolute gains in Hindu numbers. It reflect changes relative to initial population. Muslims had a far lower population in 1950. This means that the percentage share would increase on a relative basis, even as it adds fewer absolute numbers than the Hindu population.
