UK series concentrated on the West Coast Main Line phased programme (1968 to 1974), the East Coast Main Line completion (mid-1980s), and the Great Western Main Line and Northern programmes (2016 to 2018). Germany has run a steady multi-decadal programme since electrification of the federal network resumed in the 1950s.
