America’s Most Accident-Prone States (2025)

Which U.S. states face the highest risks for vehicle crashes, drunk driving, cyclist injuries, and child accidents? This map shows a danger score for all 50 states, based on combined accident-related data. Higher scores indicate more accident-prone environments.

The danger score is a composite index created using data on fatal vehicle crashes, DUI deaths, pedalcyclist fatalities, child injury rates, dog bite incidents, and e-scooter injuries. Scores are standardized and scaled for comparison across all 50 states.
