Worries about smaller insurers

Florida homeowners who are insured by national carriers were more than twice as likely as customers of Florida-only companies to say they were very confident that their policy would cover necessary repairs if their homes were severely damaged.

Sun Sentinel/Orlando Sentinel survey of 1,511 Florida homeowners with property insurance conducted by the Public Opinion Research Lab at the University of North Florida between July 16 and July 31, 2026. The overall margin of error is +/- 3.2 percentage points.
