Payouts to Mississippi Counties and Cities Range Widely

Opioid settlements with several companies are set to pay out over nearly two decades. Gulfport City is estimated to receive the highest payout relative to its population, and Diamondhead City the lowest.

Note: Total payouts reflect the sum of estimated payouts from settlements with nine companies to be paid 2022-2038. Dollar amounts are estimates provided by the Mississippi Attorney General's Office and may change as certain settlements are finalized. Population estimates for 2023 from the U.S. Census Bureau were used to calculate payout per 100,000 residents.
