Oklahoma's Prison Population, 2018-2023

Oklahoma lowered its prison population 17.35% from 2018 to 2023, according to data compiled by the Bureau of Justice Statistics. The state ranked fourth in the U.S. in imprisonment rate in 2023, trailing Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas.

Totals include prisoners in state custody and sentenced defendants awaiting transfer from county jails.
