Standard VAT or Sales Tax Rates by Country

Standard VAT or sales tax rates as a percentage. Countries may have special tax rates for specific categories of goods that may be higher or lower than the standard rate.

In the US, state and local sales taxes are levied in some states. The tax rates range between 2.9% and 7.25%.
In Canada, sales tax is levied on a provincial basis. The tax rate is: 5% in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and Yukon; 13% in Ontario; 14% in Nova Scotia; 15% in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island.
San Marino does not have VAT, but levies a 17% mono-phase tax on imports.
Countries without a standard VAT or sales tax may still levy sales taxes on certain categories of goods.
