Annual CCH tax subsidy, 2008-2027 (in millions)

The Cook County Board's annual tax subsidy to its flagship health system has tumbled thanks to more of the system's patients being covered by insurance or Medicaid. For next year's budget, major federal cuts are expected to lead to smaller reimbursements and more uninsured patients. CCH is asking county commissioners for a bigger allocation to cover their losses.
