With notable exceptions during years with harsh winters, ice outs on Minnesota lakes have been arriving earlier than they did in the 1980s and 90s, according to data kept by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. This year looks like it could be early once again. Below are the number of days after January 1 that the ice went out on each lake on that earliest date.
