Drugstore Sector by Sales, 2014-2025

Japan's retail drugstore sector has shown some of the fastest growth of any channel. Sales figures were first officially recorded only in 2014, since when the total volume of chain drugstore sales has roughly doubled. Independent pharmacies received a significant boost during Covid, but a downturn struck in 2025 as more stores were absorbed into larger chains or went out of business.
