A March 2024 poll of 1,053 people found that older voters in the U.S. are much happier than their younger peers. Overall, two-thirds of respondents 50 and above—the area shaded yellow—said they were slightly, somewhat, or extremely satisfied with life, and nearly 90% of those over 65 reported being satisfied with life. Happiness may influence political behavior: Happy voters also told researchers they are more likely to support candidates who maintain the status quo.
