The year 2023 had the third highest rate of pedestrian fatalities per capita for the time period reported in this figure. The rate of pedestrian fatalities per pedestrian commuter was also the third highest rate for this time period, which reflects the years when pedestrian commuter estimates are available.
The rate of pedestrian fatalities per million people and per 10,000 pedestrian commuters from 2007 to 2023. This rate has been steadily increasing for more than a decade, reaching highs in 2021 and 2022.
