Number of Federal Register Notices by Year

This visualization shows the number of Federal Register Notices the Museum has published each year. The Notices of Inventory Completion are for ancestors and associated funerary belongings. The Notices of Repatriation are for unassociated funerary belongings, sacred objects and objects of cultural patrimony.

A full list of Federal Register Notices published by the Museum can be found at https://peabody.harvard.edu/nagpra-federal-notices. As of December 31, 2025 the Museum has repatriated 5,464 ancestors and more than twenty thousand funerary belongings. Data accurate as of December 31, 2025.
