Households Receiving SNAP and LIHEAP by State

A comparison of the percentage of households receiving SNAP and receiving LIHEAP benefits in each state shows that certain states, such as New York, Michigan, New Mexico, and Oklahoma have a large share of households receiving these benefits.

LIHEAP data reflect a 2022-2024 average, since annual recipient numbers vary. SNAP data are based on May 2025; monthly SNAP totals are relatively consistent. Total household data is from 2023.
