PEN America's Index of School Book Bans

PEN America tracked more than 10,000 book bans in 29 states during the 2023-24 school year, which includes cases where access to books in school libraries and classrooms was restricted or diminished even temporarily. Some of these bans are still in place while others have been rescinded.
