Overall combined city, county, enterprise debt (2004-2025)

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas's overall debt has grown by hundreds of millions over the past two decades. The total amount of (non general fund) outstanding debt that the UG has to pay off has grown from $137.7 million in 2004, to $350 million in 2014, to $551.7 million in 2025, according to its chief financial officer.  

Note: Data show the overall amount the Unified Government owes in principal and interest to date. It does not indicate how much money it borrows per year, but rather how much its overall debt has grown over time. Data include total combined debt across functions for Kansas City, Kansas, Wyandotte County and enterprise funds.
