More than 324,000 households in Missouri benefit from the SNAP program, according to the Missouri Budget Project. Every SNAP dollar spent locally generates an estimated $1.57 in economic growth. In 2023, almost $1.5 billion of redeemed SNAP benefits resulted in an additional $2.3 billion circulating in Missouri communities. In Boone County, 6.8% of all households, or 14,748 people, get SNAP benefits. The estimated annual impact here was more than $53.9 million.
