Chemistry has consistently had the highest rate, starting at 10.8% in 2000 and increasing to 17.6% in 2022. The baseline value of all patents started at 7.2% in 2000 and rose to 10.9% by 2022. Mechanical engineering shows the lowest rate, going from 3.8% to 6.4%.
