Republicans' Share of Mail Voting Participation Has Shrunk

In 2020, Republicans requested 29% of the two-party total of mail ballots. They returned a smaller share, and Donald Trump got a still-smaller share of the two-party mail vote. This year, requests and returns have skewed even more Democratic.

2020 votes reflect mail votes cast for Donald Trump (Republican) and Joe Biden (respectively). 2022 requests and returns reflect totals reported by the counties to the Department of State as of October 25, 2022.
