The best managers come out of Harvard Business School, right? Isn’t General Management what they are trained to do? A bit simplistic, no doubt, but the market views the program’s value here slightly different if pay is a true measure. HBS management grads ranked 4th in base pay, lagging behind Stanford GSB, Wharton, and U.C.-Berkeley Haas. Alas, this is par for the course at HBS, which also placed behind Columbia Business School (and ahead of Wharton) three years ago. Taking a broader view, General Management is a mixed bag for high pay. Just three business schools produced graduates who earned bases of $200,000 or above. Then again, Pay packages of $150K or better were reported at 19 schools, including Georgetown University and the University of Pittsburgh.
