Rates presented are the number of veteran suicide deaths per state in 2019 divided by the estimated population and multiplied by 100,000. Rates based on counts under 20 are considered unreliable or excluded (Delaware, Hawaii, North Dakota and, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington, D.C.).
