Food insecurity rates by US county types

The average food insecurity rate among the nation's 444 farming-dependent counties increased by nearly 12% from 2013 to 2023.

The USDA designates most counties by their main economic driver. For example, the USDA defines farming-dependent counties as counties where 25% or more of average annual earnings or 16% or more of jobs were in agriculture.
