In Chicago, 35% of 52 police officers with gunshot wounds went to the hospital via police car while 52% went by ambulance. In Philadelphia, 64% went by police vehicle and 0% by ambulance.
Different cities throughout the U.S. prioritize different methods for getting police officers out of danger after they have been shot. Philly, Detroit and New York City lean on police vehicles. Chicago, Memphis and Houston use ambulances more frequently.
