West Papua: Extrajudical Killings and Torture Cases 2020 - 2025

Documented cases of extrajudicial killings and torture by Indonesian security forces have risen sharply recently. In 2025, human rights monitors recorded 27 cases of extrajudicial killings and 73 cases of torture and ill-treatment both the highest figures in the monitoring period. The data reflects a pattern of systematic impunity: in 2024, not a single security force member was sanctioned for any violation.
