The proposed elementary school closures leave some parts of the city untouched

TK-5 Enrollment in 2023-24 compared to the capacity before and after the proposed closures/mergers.

SFUSD does not have any regions. I defined the regions purely to organize the analysis in Which Elementary Schools Would You Close? In reality, the Northeast will not have negative spare capacity after the closures because its enrollment will decline as the students in Spring Valley and Yick Wo (both in Northeast) move to Muir and Sherman (both in North Central). Similarly, the enrollment in Mission will increase, and the enrollment in Central and Excelsior will decrease, as students from Milk (Central) and SF Community (Excelsior) move to Sanchez and Revere (both in Mission).
