Below see the top 10 states from our mapping of all 48 in the continental U.S. by the percentage of brakes violations -- the raw number of brakes violations issued so far in 2026 occupies the second column. The third is a cut of brakes violations specifically earmarked as rotor/drum-related, or coded with the catchall code for the two regs shown in the column header. The fourth column (far right) shows the typically very-low incidence in the wider brakes mix in most states.Texas's outlier high percentage there is almost entirely accounted for by the catchall codes for inoperative or defective brakes, not always drum/rotor-related.
