NOAA's 2023 Atlantic and Pacific hurricane forecasts
With El Niño likely to develop soon, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is forecasting a busier than usual eastern Pacific and average Atlantic season. The lighter colors show the forecast range. For example, 7 to 11 hurricanes are forecast in the eastern Pacific.
In its 2023 Atlantic hurricane outlook released in late May, NOAA forecast 12 to 17 named storms, five to nine hurricanes and one to four major hurricanes. In the Eastern Pacific, it forecast 14 to 20 named storms, seven to 11 hurricanes and four to eight major hurricanes.
