Human-caused wildfires tend to be more destructive
An annual comparison of wildfires with known causes shows that those started by human activities, such as sparks from power lines or cars, destroyed more structures than lightning-sparked fires did in most recent years.
A bar chart for each year from 2001 to 2018 shows human-caused fires destroyed many times more structures every year with the exception of 2012.
