Type of Inward FDI in Korea, 1990–2008

M&A investment surged from zero in 1990 to nearly half of total inward FDI by 2005, driven by post-crisis liberalization of Korea's corporate market. Greenfield investment remained dominant overall, accounting for 68.5% of cumulative flows through 2008.
