Natural gas cost soared during February Big Freeze

According to pricing records from trading hubs along the route from southern states where most natural gas comes into Minnesota, prices spiked during the Big Freeze (Feb. 11 to 19).

*One dekatherm equals one million Btus (British thermal units) or roughly the amount of gas burned to heat an average house for one cold winter day, according to Xcel Energy.
