The city of Raleigh recently formed a citizen review board to review police department procedures and engage in community outreach, but will not be empowered to “conduct investigations, hear testimony, or contribute to disciplinary action” or respond to citizens’ complaints. Below are some NC cities which have citizen review boards and the number of complaints received and requests for appeal hearings.
