A March 2024 poll of 1,053 people found that younger voters in the U.S. are much less happy than past generations of young people. Fifty-five percent of respondents under age 35—the area shaded yellow—said they were slightly, somewhat, or extremely dissatisfied with life, compared with just 8% of voters 65 and older. Happiness may influence political behavior, with unhappy voters more likely to cast their ballot for change.
