Household expenditure as proportion of income

Note: 1. Household income refers to income from all sources obtained from the Household Expenditure Survey Reports, which also includes regular government transfers. 2. Households are ranked by their monthly household income from all sources per household member among all resident households. 3. Some resident households in the lowest income quintile are retiree households: 19% in 2012/13, 21% in 2017/18 and 31% in 2023. These households may comprise retirees who draw on their savings to fund their expenditure.
