Drinking water contamination in Mississippi

Community drinking water utilities with contamination violations between 2018 and 2020 are mapped below. Most contaminants that exceeded EPA limits were disinfection byproducts, such as TTHM and HAA5.

Utilities that are currently serious violators of drinking water rules are in red. Circles are sized by the number of violations (multiple violations of the same contaminant are shown in parentheses).

Utilities mapped above were found using state health department data from 2018 to 2020. If they had violations in 2021 listed on the EPA's website those were included in violation counts. "Current violation" indicates if the utility had a violation during the most recent EPA quarterly inspection.
