Every year, formerly incarcerated residents account for roughly half the overdose deaths in CT

The number of people who die annually from overdoses in CT has increased from 174 in 2012 to 1,432 in 2022. The share of deaths attributed to formerly incarcerated residents has continued to hover around 50%.
