2025 State Executions

As of 11/14/2025, 43 people have been executed nationwide. Stephen Bryant's Friday execution by firing squad is South Carolina's fifth execution of the year. It is the state's third execution by firing squad this year. The two other people executed chose the lethal injection.

Twenty-seven states in the country have the death penalty, even if it is rarely used. Greyed-out states do not have the death penalty.
