Growth of Afro Latine population doubled in a decade
In 2019, there were 2.2 million Afro Latines in the U.S, nearly 1% of the total population. Afro Latines represent 4% of U.S. Latines. From 2000 to 2019 the number of Afro Latines doubled and outpaced the growth rate of non-Black Latines.

Chart showing U.S. Latine population growth from 2000 to 2019. The Afro Latine population more than doubled, rising from 978,000 to 2 million, a 120.8% increase. By comparison, the overall Latino population grew from 35.2 million to 58.5 million, up 66.1%, while the non-Black Latino population grew from 34.2 million to 56.3 million, up 64.6%. In 2019, Afro Latines represented about 4% of U.S. Latines and nearly 1% of the total U.S. population.
