After months of Reductions in Force, Deferred Resignation Plans, and encouragement of federal workers to seek other employment, the number of staff at USDOT has declined significantly over the course of the year. The pace of deployment of IIJA programs, such as Safe Streets and Roads for All, has seemingly slowed down as a result, delaying the obligation of funds. Time-limited funds for certain delayed programs, such as FY22 funds for the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure grant program, have now lapsed.
