State of Drinking Water Systems in South Africa

Following an audit by the Department of Water and Sanitation between July 2023 and August 2024, the department found that 622 systems (62%) are in the low-risk category, 199 systems (20%) are in the medium-risk category, 106 systems (10%) are in the high-risk category, and 79 systems (8%) are in the critical-risk category.
