Minimum-Wage Sufficiency in 2026

The map shows the share of the living wage earned by a full-time minimum-wage worker in each state.

Minimum-wage earnings represent each state’s hourly minimum wage annualized for a full-time worker. Where minimum wages vary by city or county, the analysis uses the closest equivalent to a statewide standard. Five states have no state minimum wage law; workers in those states are generally covered by the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour, annualized to $15,080 for a full-time worker.
