Open finance jurisdictions worldwide 2024, by approach

In 2024, there were 82 jurisdictions worldwide with distinct classifications where some form of open banking or open finance activities were identified. Based on the source's classification, the majority of jurisdictions (54 or 66 percent) used regulation-led methods, with 40 adopting mandated and standardized data sharing, nine using mandated data sharing, and five implementing standardized data sharing. The remaining 28 jurisdictions (34 percent) followed market-driven approaches, split between 12 jurisdictions with guided implementation and 16 taking a voluntary approach.
