Schools served fewer free and reduced price meals this fall

In the first few months of the 2022-2023 school year, schools served fewer free and reduced price meals compared to the same time period immediately before the pandemic, according to preliminary data on the program from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. At the same time, families were adjusting to the end of a pandemic-era program that made school meals free for all kids.
