By Balancing Authority, TVA's Planned Fossil Fleet Not the Largest

Many environmental groups claim TVA is planning the nation's largest gas buildout. But EIA's actual and planned generator data going out to 2035, along with manual additions of TVA's planned gas plants, reveals that TVA will have a lower share of combined coal and gas capacity than five of the other nine largest balancing authorities. That's partly due to TVA's plans to retire coal plants.

Manual gas additions for TVA: New Johnsonville (500 MW), Cumberland (1,400 MW), Kingston (1,500 MW), Cheatham County (900 MW), Allen (200 MW), New Caledonia (500 MW), Lagoon Creek (350 MW).
